DAILY ITINERARY

Day 1: DEPARTURE TO GREECE

Today we depart from the United States to Greece. Enjoy in-flight service as we cross the Atlantic Ocean.

Day 2: ARRIVE IN ATHENS/FREE TIME

“While Paul was waiting for them in Athens…” – Acts 17:16
We arrive in Athens where we will be met by a representative who will assist us through customs. Continue to our hotel in Athens. The rest of the day is free.

Day 3: ACROPOLIS/PARTHENON/MARS HILL/ANCIENT CORINTH/LUNCH/CORINTH CANAL

“Then Paul stood up in the Areopagus and delivered this address…” – Acts 17:22
“After that, Paul left Athens and went to Corinth” – Acts 18:1
Breakfast in hotel. We are in Athens, capital of Greece, cradle of democracy, birthplace of Western Civilization. Athens is a vibrant city where old and new coexist. The majestic Parthenon rises above the city, its ancient glory still visible in the time-worn stone. Today we have a tour including Mars Hill and the Acropolis. Continue along the coastal road to biblical Corinth via the Canal of Corinth, 75 feet wide, linking the Aegean to the Ionian Sea. Paul lived and preached here for 18 months, reflected in his letters to the Corinthians. View the excavations and the Bema Seat. Enjoy lunch on the way to Corinth.

Day 4: BOARD CRUISE/CRUISE TO MYKONOS

Breakfast in hotel. This morning we transfer to Piraeus Harbor for the beginning of our 4-day cruise. Overnight sail to the Greek island of Mykonos. The island combines dazzling beauty with a sophisticated jet-set atmosphere. Stroll through the white-washed flower-decked alleyways to the sculpture-like Church of Panagia Paraportiani and along the waterfront to the famous windmills. Enjoy!! Return to ship.

Day 5: KUSADASI/PATMOS

Enjoy a fabulous breakfast! We sail to Kusadasi in Turkey. Kusadasi is a picturesque town and the starting point for an excursion to the ancient city of Ephesus. Walk through history along streets lined with wonderful public buildings, among them the Baths of Scholastica, the Library of Celsius, the Temple of Hadrian and the theatre. In the afternoon, we continue sailing to the Greek island of Patmos, where the exiled John the Devine wrote the Apocalyptic Revelations which constitute the last book of the New Testament. Visit the 100 AD Monastery of St. John high on a hill which houses an original manuscript of the Gospel. Admire the Byzantine wealth of the Christina Orthodox Church and from the ramparts enjoy the panoramic view.

Day 6: RHODES/LINDOS

Enjoy buffet breakfast. During the night, we sail to Rhodes and awake to the “Island of Roses” which has a rich and varied history. The crusading knights of St. John left the magnificent city of Rhodes after their defeat by Sultan Suleiman. Also visit Lindos, the ancient acropolis of the goddess Athena. Enjoy many art galleries as well as lovely coffee shops.

Day 7: CRETE/HERAKLION/SANTORINI

Another hearty breakfast! We sail to the large island of Crete. Enjoy a shore excursion to Heraklion. Heraklion is close to the ruins of the palace of Knossos which in Minoan times was the largest center of population on Crete. Knossos had a port at the site of Heraklion as early as 2000 BC. From here we sail to the gorgeous island of Santorini, with its towering cliffs overlooking the great Caldera. Stroll the narrow alleys, and visit picturesque stores and coffee shops on your own.

Day 8: MORNING DISEMBARKATION/DELPHI

Enjoy yet another spectacular breakfast! This morning we disembark the cruise and drive to Delphi through Levadia and Arachova, famous for its textiles. Delphi is the second most important archaeological site in Greece after the Acropolis in Athens. In ancient times, Delphi was considered the place where heaven and earth met so the gods were close by. Established around the 7th century BC, Delphi was a sanctuary to the god Apollo. Our tour will include the Delphi Museum.

Day 9: KALAMBAKA/METEORA

Breakfast in hotel. This morning we drive to Meteora. In western Thessaly, we will visit the world-famous Byzantine Monasteries, Meteora, perched precariously on top of rock formations of varied and beautiful shapes. Visit the spectacular monasteries containing priceless historical and religious treasures. There were monastic retreats here as early as the 10th century. Return to Kalambaka.

Day 10: ATHENS/FREE TIME/FAREWELL DINNER

Breakfast in hotel. This morning we travel to Athens. The remainder of the day is free for rest and relaxation or optional activities on your own. In the evening, we will have our special Farewell Dinner…enjoy!

Day 11: TRANSFER/FLIGHT TO UNITED STATES

Breakfast in hotel. Today we transfer to the airport for our return flight to the United States. (B)
