24 July 2007, Sydney, Australia
- The International AIDS Society (IAS) today announced the selection of the South African city of Cape Town as host of the world’s largest open scientific conference on HIV/ AIDS – the 5th IAS Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention (IAS 2009) - in July 2009. The event will be organized by the IAS, in partnership with South African-based NGO, Dira Sengwe, organizer of the series of South African AIDS Conferences. Held every two years, the conference attracts about 5,000 delegates from all over the world. It is a unique opportunity for the world’s leading scientists, clinicians, public health experts and community leaders to examine the latest developments in HIV-related research, and to explore how scientific advances can – in very practical ways – inform the global response to HIV/AIDS.

Often called 'the rainbow nation', South Africa is one of the most ethnically diverse countries in Africa. This journey to South Africa will offer you a once in a lifetime opportunity to participate in the IAS Conference and to explore Cape Town and its surrounding areas. You will be staying 8 nights in a First Class hotel in downtown Cape Town with daily breakfast, 1 lunch and 2 dinners.

Due to the Conference, flights to Cape Town and rooms in hotels are in high demand. Therefore, please let us know if you would like to attend the Conference before August 31st.

Experience the unique African culture & breathtaking scenery!
